Tomorrow I will receive my aftermarket camshafts from the US. They are made by MegaCycles and they have the following characteristics:
174x8 Grind Intake Exhaust
Valve Lift 0.375’’ 0.400’’
Duration @ 0.040’’ 266° 272°
Lobe Centers 106° 110°
Open/Close 27 BTC/59 ABC 66 BBC/26 ATC
Running Clearance 0.008’’ 0.010’’
Here are the stock cams characteristics for comparison...
Stock Intake Exhaust
Valve Lift 0.315’’ 0.325’’
Duration @ 0.040’’ 233° 237°
Lobe Centers 103.5° 104,5°
Open/Close 13 BTC/40 ABC 43 BBC/14 ATC
As you can see the aftermarket camshaft is much 'wilder' than stock, so I would like to know if the stock valve springs will be enough to keep the valves in place. If I will need stronger springs, does anybody know where I can get them?
